Engineers Are Clever – Duct Tape & Ducking Blame

For some reason, engineers get a bad rap. They’re often the most interesting people you’ll meet, yet a lot of people still carry some kind of pocket-linered-nerd-with-coke-bottle-glasses sort of stereotype in their head when you say “engineer”. As proof of how cool engineers can actually be, this week’s Monday Metavator will use two simple charts (often shared by, and perhaps created by engineers) to quickly demonstrate three important things about engineers: 1) They have a sense of humor 2) They understand the concept of minimizing effort and complexity, and 3) They understand the value of ducking accountability without blamestorming. We’ve given these two oft-shared flow charts a refresh, because the only versions we could find were JPG artifacted beyond recognition. And yes, if you’re keeping track, we lied a few weeks ago about the only flow chart you’ll ever need.
